Description
We are seeking a skilled Software Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Software Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing software systems that run on multiple platforms. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define software system requirements and design robust architectures that meet business objectives while considering technical constraints.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Design limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compilers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
- Analyze design and determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
- Execute and write portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portions of applications; identify and debug issues with code and suggest changes or improvements.
- Participate in concept design discussions, gather system-level requirements, clarify interfaces, provide feedback into future design requirements to help develop robust and high-performance solutions.
- Improve the whole lifecycle of services from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Provide support services through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Participate as a member of a project team with other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions for assigned systems portions or subsystems.
- Collaborate and communicate with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Develop conclusions, recommendations, and written reports, contributing proactively through research and data analysis support, and sharing knowledge to foster a knowledge management culture.
Education & Experience Recommended
- Four-year or graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
- Typically has 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming languages, or a related field, or an advanced degree with little or no work experience.
