Description

We are seeking a Technical Interface Designer to join our EA SPORTS FC team. As a Technical Interface Designer, you will bridge the gap between artists and software engineers by combining artistic skills and experience with programming and scripting.

Responsibilities:

  • Recreate authentic broadcast overlays and in-game overlays to match styles
  • Learn and drive art asset conversion from legacy to new format
  • Maintain best practices in code and art development
  • Create UI animations and effects using proprietary game engine
  • Apply proper art optimization techniques in art assets
  • Quickly identify and debug art and animation-related issues
  • Design and create motion demos for game front-end and HUD, and integrate them into the game
  • Collaborate with engineering and art teams, explaining both art team needs and technical constraints
  • Document tools and workflows on the internal Wiki
  • Conduct high-fidelity rapid prototyping for UX evaluation
  • Learn and support animations and UI work with legacy tech (Flash-based animations via ActionScript and timeline)

Qualifications:

  • Technical skills and ability to quickly learn new proprietary production tools and workflows
  • Proficient in various Object-Oriented programming languages and scripts (e.g., JavaScript, C#)
  • Familiar with scripting languages like Python
  • Proficient with Adobe Photoshop and other graphics and animation applications
  • 1+ year of experience creating 3D motion graphics or interfaces with game engines such as Unreal or Unity
  • Visual animation and programming skills

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Understanding of user experience principles
  • Understanding of revision version control software; knowledge of Perforce is ideal
  • Degree in a relevant visual art or technical subject highly desired (e.g., BSc Computer Science or Game Programming, Game Art and Design Diploma)
