Job Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer (ML QA) at Graphcore, you will design and build production-quality test infrastructure for the company's machine learning stack, spanning frameworks to AI accelerator hardware.
Your primary responsibility will be to create scalable test frameworks and CI/CD pipelines that run across simulators, emulators, and physical hardware. You will develop representative ML workloads, analyze their execution, and translate the results into practical improvements to testing and tooling.
Responsibilities and Challenges
In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape software architecture and developer experience, going beyond adding tests to existing systems. You will work closely with software teams, utilizing code and design reviews to enhance quality, security, and maintainability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing production-quality test infrastructure that engineers can extend, maintain, and rely on.
- Architecting scalable test frameworks and building CI/CD pipelines.
- Creating representative ML workloads and analyzing their execution.
- Mentoring junior engineers to elevate the team's technical standards.
Requirements and Qualifications
To excel in this position, you should possess:
- Strong Python skills, with experience in designing, developing, and maintaining production-quality software.
- Expertise in software design and architecture for large, complex codebases, focusing on testability and long-term maintainability.
- Experience with building CI/CD pipelines and automated testing systems in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with C or C++, including the ability to read, debug, and reason about low-level code.
- The ability to mentor junior engineers and influence engineering practices through constructive feedback.
- A self-directed approach to solving complex problems, identifying gaps, and driving improvements.
