Description
The R&D Engineer II contributes to the development of LS-DYNA and related software products.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.
To be considered for this position, you must have an in-depth understanding of finite element method and related computational mechanics principles, strong programming skills, adequate academic or industrial experience in the related fields, and ability to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing, and documentation of software modules and sub-systems
- Understands and employs best practices
- Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing, and beta support for assigned products
- Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions
- Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria, and competitive issues
- Works under the general supervision of a development manager
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of professional experience, or Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Biomechanical, Mechanical Engineering, or other natural science discipline
- Working experience with technical software development proven by academic, research, or industry projects
- Good understanding and skills in programming
- MUST be located (or able to relocate) to Livermore, CA onsite at our Ansys office (hybrid working schedule is allowed)
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s Degree or PhD Preferred
- Technical knowledge and experience with finite element simulation (e.g., LS-DYNA, Ansys), and CAD modeling
- Background in computational solid mechanics, numerical methods, and preferably on high-performance computing on C/GPUs
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics, electromagnetics, computational geometry, or computer graphics is an advantage but not a must
- Experience with Fortran or C
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
