Job Overview
As a Strategic Sourcing Buyer for Vehicle Electronics at Ford, you will play a critical role in shaping the vehicles of the future. You will source the highest-quality parts and services from around the globe while ensuring optimal cost, quality, and on-time delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute commodity and sourcing strategies for vehicle electronics components, using category management best practices to drive cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Build deep commodity and market intelligence, including cost structures and manufacturing processes, to guide sourcing decisions and negotiations.
- Lead cost-target and value-management initiatives, partnering with cross-functional teams to set and achieve savings and performance goals.
- Own program sourcing activities from initial contract award through final design award, ensuring timely and cost-effective outcomes.
- Lead strategic cost-review sessions and quarterly business reviews, presenting sourcing performance and strategy to key stakeholders.
- Partner cross-functionally with product development, finance, and supplier quality teams to align sourcing strategies with broader business goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, sourcing Vehicle Electronic Commodities.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to conduct sourcing evaluations and build business case studies.
- Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to build leverage and advocate effectively in a variety of business situations.
- Solid understanding of cost analytics, including commodity cost drivers and part cost breakdowns.
- A strategic mindset and awareness of current trends and challenges facing the automotive industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard enterprise procurement/ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar platforms).
- Ability to travel for business as needed.
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and oral).
