The London Borough of Bromley is seeking an experienced Technical Officer to join our Home Improvement Agency (HIA).
This is an exciting opportunity to use your surveying, design and project management skills to help disabled and vulnerable residents remain safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes.
The Home Improvement Agency (HIA) is seeking an experienced Technical Officer to lead the delivery of disabled adaptations, housing improvements and grant funded works across the Borough.
You will manage a varied caseload of adaptation projects, undertaking surveys, developing technical solutions, preparing specifications and overseeing works from design through to completion.
Working closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors, planning and building control services, as well as residents and their families, you will help deliver practical and innovative solutions that enable people to live safely and independently in their homes.
Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of adaptation projects
- Undertake surveys, develop technical solutions, prepare specifications and oversee works
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists, contractors, planning and building control services, and residents
- Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Experience undertaking property inspections, surveys and assessments
- Experience producing drawings, specifications and schedules of works
- Experience managing construction or adaptation projects from inception through to completion
- Knowledge of residential construction methods, building regulations and accessibility requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical technical solutions
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working with residents, contractors and professional partners
