Sr. Software Engineer, Backend

We are seeking a skilled and motivated backend engineer to join our Internal Tools team. Our team owns the design and implementation of our next-generation internal tools platform , a new advertiser management platform that unifies several legacy systems under a single, modern foundation, with a focus on high-performance middleware and backend services.

You will play a central role in building this platform from the ground up: designing APIs and services, shaping the data model, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems
• Develop APIs, microservices, and other server-side components that power platform features and functionality
• Contribute to the architecture and design of backend systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, scalable, and performant
• Design and optimize relational database schemas and queries that serve as the system of record for the platform
• Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and implement new features and improvements
• Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues, provide effective solutions, and optimize system performance
• Maintain high standards for code quality, including thorough testing, code reviews, and documentation
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating and recommending new tools, frameworks, and libraries

Requirements:

• 6+ years of professional experience in backend development
• Proficiency in Java, with experience in additional languages a plus
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot
• Solid knowledge of RESTful API design, best practices, and implementation
• Strong expertise in relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity
• Experience with NoSQL databases or analytical warehouses is a plus
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and system design principles
• Practical, hands-on experience using AI coding tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
