Research Scientist

An exciting opportunity for an experienced R&D professional with strong background in synthetic organic chemistry to work on designing and synthesizing novel specialty components at Valvoline Global Operations, an affiliate of Aramco.

Job Purpose Design and synthesize novel specialty components as a Research Scientist.

How You Make an Impact (Job Accountabilities)

• Design and synthesis, scale of novel organic specialty molecules
• Develop and optimize synthetic processes through route development and process development
• Identify opportunities for patents and IP creation
• Maintain accurate experiment records, observations and results in the lab notebooks
• Support internal customer, competitive benchmarking of the products
• Maintain compliance with EHS, quality and documentation standards
• Interpret complex analytical data (NMR, LCMS, GCMS, FTIR) to confirm the identity of components

What You Bring to the Role (Job Qualifications / Education / Skills / Requirements / Capabilities)

• PhD, in organic chemistry, 1-2 years of industrial experience with lubricant background preferable but not necessary or MS with min 7 years of industrial experience

Competencies Desired

• Know-how of Synthetic chemistry
• Knowledge of Spectroscopic methods like GC/LCMS/NMR/FTIR
• Knowledge of Lubricant chemistry is preferred but not necessary
• Good communication, preparing laboratory reports, good interpersonal skills
