Silicon Engineer

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.

You will be part of a small team covering a large surface, focusing on areas such as front-end design, pre-silicon verification, physical design, and more.

Key responsibilities:

• Participate in end-to-end program activities: strategy, specification, execution, and technical bar
• Write specifications and interface definitions for others to design against
• Make directional calls on technology and IP selection, design authority, and partnerships
• Develop AI-assisted approaches for code-like parts of your domain
• Contribute to architecture and micro-architecture discussions
• Partner with various teams on hardware-software co-design and integration
• Support first-silicon bring-up and debug

Minimum qualifications:

• Deep expertise in at least one silicon domain
• Direct contribution to shipped silicon with ownership
• Fluency in adjacent domains for chip-level tradeoffs
• Experience with external partners and technical decision-making
• Practical experience with AI coding tools
• Clear communication and team alignment skills
• Autonomy and adaptability in a dynamic program

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with machine learning accelerators or large designs
• Founding or early-stage silicon team experience
• Familiarity with chip-package-system interfaces
• Experience with hardware-software co-design and AI-assisted design flows

The annual compensation range for this role is $320,000-$485,000 USD.
