Part Time-Temp Reporter, Axios Local

Axios Local is seeking part-time, temporary reporters to join their growing network of local newsletters. As a reporter, you will write high-impact local news items in Axios' Smart Brevity style, typically short-form, daily pieces.

Responsibilities:

• Write local news items in Axios' Smart Brevity style
• Cover timely stories, events, and trends
• Contribute to Axios Local newsletters, websites, and social media accounts
• Collaborate with editors and/or full-time newsletter authors
• Fill longer coverage gaps occasionally

Requirements:

• Strong news judgment and clean, concise writing
• Ability to move quickly and hit deadlines
• Omnivorous curiosity and enthusiasm for reporting and writing about various subjects
• Comfort writing in a conversational, reader-first voice
• Experience with newsletters or audience-focused writing
• Familiarity with Axios' Smart Brevity style
• Strong communication skills and experience working in a remote environment

Salary range: $27/hour - $45/hour
