Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, evidence-based, and dynamic Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our team of 29 SLTs across two hospitals. Our trust has a well-established stroke pathway, including a Hyper-Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), Acute Stroke Unit (ASU), inpatient rehabilitation, and Early Supported Discharge (ESD). Queen's Hospital also provides the regional neurosurgical service for Essex, resulting in a varied neuroscience caseload.
As a highly specialist, autonomous practitioner, you will be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, including managing patients in your care and supporting colleagues. Your main duties will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments of complex patients using advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques, including FEES and VFSS
- Developing and maintaining highly specialist skills in managing patients in critical care environments, including those with tracheostomy and ventilators
- Supporting communication and swallowing disorders associated with stroke and neurosciences caseloads in acute and rehabilitation settings
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stroke and neurosciences, with extensive experience managing dysphagia and communication disorders. Competence in VFSS is essential, and ITU and tracheostomy experience are desirable. In-house training for tracheostomy and FEES can be provided.
We offer a salary range of £55,524 to £62,652 per annum, and we are an organisation committed to delivering high-quality care and improving patient outcomes.
