Cloud Platform Engineer

GitLab is seeking a skilled Cloud Platform Engineer to join its Runway team. The successful candidate will help design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and developer tooling that powers GitLab's engineering organization.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing and improving production-grade Kubernetes clusters across cloud environments
• Developing and maintaining ArgoCD-based GitOps workflows
• Writing, reviewing, and maintaining Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure provisioning
• Monitoring platform health, responding to incidents, and driving improvements
• Collaborating with application teams to onboard services onto the platform
• Implementing security and compliance measures, including RBAC and secrets management
• Integrating platform capabilities with CI pipelines

The ideal candidate will have:

• 3-5 years of experience in a platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE role
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
• Demonstrable experience with ArgoCD or comparable GitOps tooling
• Proficiency in Terraform for cloud infrastructure provisioning
• Experience working with at least one major cloud provider
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice to have:

• Experience with service mesh technologies
• Familiarity with policy-as-code tools
• Exposure to observability stacks
• Knowledge of Crossplane or other Kubernetes-native IaC approaches
• Contributions to open-source projects or internal platform tooling

The base salary range for this role is $126,000-$213,000 USD.
