Staff Software Engineer, Core Infrastructure

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Core Infrastructure team at Okta. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and delivering cloud-based infrastructure projects on a modern tech stack, including Redis, Elasticsearch, Docker, and Terraform on AWS.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with engineering teams to design, develop, and deliver cloud-based infrastructure projects
• Drive evaluation, development, and rollout of new common microservices
• Operate, support, and upgrade shared services and frameworks, scaling them as Okta's business grows
• Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring high programming standards through unit and functional tests
• Assist with monitoring, troubleshooting services and frameworks owned by the team
• Collaborate with architects, QA, product owners, security, and operations engineers
• Mentor new engineering hires and interns

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 7+ years of experience in an object-oriented programming language like Java, especially in backend services
• 4+ years of experience working with MySQL or equivalent relational database systems
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus
• Demonstrated experience working with ReST and understanding its fundamentals
• Knowledge of Spring, Spring Boot, Hibernate, and Tomcat
• Knowledge of AWS, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Docker
• Familiarity with network security, authentication, and authorization is a nice-to-have
