Description

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Protection Analysis Consultant to conduct a protection analysis in Central America and Mexico.

The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive analysis of protection risks and vulnerabilities, identifying priority populations, and providing programmatic and strategic recommendations.

The consultant's responsibilities will include:

  • Interpreting and organising findings from collected information
  • Drafting and systematising the protection analysis report, including analytical sections and recommendations
  • Identifying gaps or inconsistencies in received inputs and raising them to the IRC for resolution
  • Incorporating technical feedback from the IRC and partner organisations

The deliverables will include:

  • A work plan for the consultancy, including a timeline
  • Technical inputs for the protection analysis, including analytical matrices and synthesis of findings
  • A commented outline of the report
  • A draft of the protection analysis report
  • A final version of the report, incorporating feedback from the IRC and partner organisations

The consultant should have:

  • A university degree in Social Sciences, Human Rights, International Relations, Sociology, or related disciplines
  • At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian protection, protection analysis, forced displacement, human mobility, or contexts of violence
  • Demonstrable experience in elaborating analyses, evaluations, or investigations related to protection risks
  • Knowledge of Central American and Mexican contexts
  • Experience in qualitative research methodologies and secondary information analysis
  • Proven ability to write analytical reports and formulate programmatic and strategic recommendations
  • Written and oral proficiency in Spanish

Desirable skills include:

  • Experience in Other Situations of Violence (OSV), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child protection, or protection of displaced, migrant, and refugee populations
  • Previous experience with humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, or donors like ECHO
