Engineering Manager, Money as a Service (MaaS)

Job Description

Stripe's Money Management products let businesses and platforms hold, move, spend, and earn on their money using the same infrastructure they already use for payments. The APAC Money as a Service (MaaS) team, based in Singapore, is responsible for bringing this product suite to Asia-Pacific markets.

As an Engineering Manager, you will make strategic, product, and technical decisions for money management in Asia-Pacific at Stripe. You will lead multiple pods, grow the team, and be accountable for the team's output. You will own the engineering side of a zero-to-one charter, turning an ambiguous regional strategy into a sequenced, de-risked roadmap.

Responsibilities

• Be accountable for the team's output: what ships, when, and how well it works for users
• Own the engineering side of a zero-to-one charter
• Operate as a peer owner of the business outcome alongside product, go-to-market, legal, compliance, and partnerships
• Stay hands-on and in the details: read the code, review designs, use the product the way our users do
• Build the operating system for a newly formed team: hiring, rituals, quality bar, on-call, and the processes that let the team move fast while keeping money movement safe and reliable
• Hire great engineers, develop them, and give direct, timely feedback

Requirements

• 3+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience taking a product or team from zero to one: a new market, a new product line, or a team you built and scaled
• A track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong engineers and building a high-performing, inclusive team
• Strong technical depth to engage credibly on architecture, reliability, and tradeoffs in complex distributed systems
• Strong product judgment and the ability to translate user and market needs into engineering priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders across time zones

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in payments, banking, or money movement, especially launching regulated financial products in new markets
• Experience operating in APAC markets, including working with local banks, networks, or regulators
• Founder, founding engineer, or early-stage startup experience
• Experience working with distributed partner teams across US, European, and APAC time zones
• Experience using AI tools to improve execution, quality, and team effectiveness
