Health, Safety and Environment Officer

The Health, Safety, and Environment Office at HKUST is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Officer. The successful candidate will assist in implementing University safety policies by conducting risk assessments for various hazards encountered in teaching, research, and operational activities.

Key duties include:

• Conducting safety inspections and exposure assessments
• Prescribing hazard control measures and supporting safe work practices
• Providing safety training and guidance to stakeholders
• Collecting occupational and environmental samples
• Managing, analyzing, and reporting environment, health, and safety data
• Responding to emergencies during office and non-office hours, including rotational on-call duties
• Investigating accidents and incidents

The ideal candidate will have:

• A relevant degree in science, engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline
• At least two years of relevant post-qualification experience
• A good command of both written and spoken Chinese and English
• Research experience is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Microsoft Office and tools such as Microsoft Lists, Power Apps, and Power BI

The appointment is for 2 years. The starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits, will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of the contract.
