Description

Join the High Power Engineering team at SpaceXAI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a Lead Engineer for Transmission & Distribution, you will work on-site in Memphis, TN, with potential travel to other sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee high-voltage switchyards, collector transmission, main power transformers, and utility relationships to ensure on-schedule campus energization.
  • Design high-voltage switchyard architecture, including bus configuration and fault-current management.
  • Lead interconnection processes with local distributors and balancing authorities.
  • Manage campus protection philosophy and settings management databases.
  • Conduct power systems studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analyses.
  • Ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
  • Develop and implement campus electrical safety programs.
  • Direct T&D team members, including Design, Ops/Build, Protection & Controls, and Power System Engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or another engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in transmission, substation, or generation interconnection engineering, focusing on high-power, high-voltage systems.
  • Experience carrying projects through utility or ISO interconnection to energization.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Professional Engineering license or intention to seek one.
  • Knowledge of IEEE C37 series, IEEE 80, NESC, and applicable NERC standards.
  • Experience with 161 kV, 230 kV, or 345 kV GIS or AIS.
  • Large-load interconnection experience with TVA, MLGW, or similar power arrangements.
  • Proficiency in power systems analysis software and tools like ETAP, SKM, PSS/E, PSCAD, ASPEN, and Matlab.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in dynamic, high-stress environments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Perform hands-on work in various environments.
  • Work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Remain focused in hazardous environments while wearing PPE.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • On-site work in Memphis, TN, with up to 25% travel.
