RN Clinical Nurse-II - Geriatrics and Medicine Acute Care Unit

This is a large 25-bed inpatient Medicine focused unit providing care for adult patients from acute care medicine and family medicine with a specialization in the care of geriatric patients and patients with complex discharge needs. The unit received NICHE designation in 2018 and was also designated Dementia Friendly in 2019.

The ideal candidate for this position must possess excellent communication and customer service skills, and be willing to be part of a high-performing team. The role involves collaborating with the nursing assistant team to provide quality care for patients utilizing teamwork, communication, patient involvement, and delegation.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and attend education programs based on identified learning needs
• Assess readiness to learn of patients, families, and caregivers, and use patient education materials relevant to the patient population
• Identify expected patient outcomes and seek guidance as needed in revising the plan of care
• Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care
• Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required for the patient care plan
• Utilize healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care
• Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs
• Consult with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues
• Develop goals to promote professional growth and minimize limitations
• Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities
• Effectively use communication systems and participate in promoting cost-effective care
• Give feedback to coworkers and be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment
• Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all

Requirements:

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• One year of nursing experience
