FBS US Life Insurance Actuary

FBS – Farmer Business Services is part of Farmers operations, aiming to build a global approach to identifying, recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent.

This position oversees actuarial functions with a focus on financial projections of U.S. product liability cashflows. The role focuses on model development, testing, governance, and consistency among various model stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders, teams, and other departments to resolve complex actuarial issues.
• Guide the preparation of financial projections to enable leadership to assess financial implications and overall impact of business decisions.
• Be accountable for timely and accurate delivery of actuarial deliverables.
• Interpret data and formulas to extract valuable insights for management.
• Analyze operational performance and present findings and recommendations for optimization.
• Independently develop and implement solutions to complex actuarial issues.
• Oversee project workflows, provide robust feedback to stakeholders and management, and ensure timely and effective completion of work.
• Advocate for improvements to assumption formulas, procedures, and programs.
• Oversee the integration of new and updated products into financial projection system.
• Stay informed about industry trends, emerging actuarial practices, and regulatory changes.
• Act as a subject matter specialist to mentor and train less experienced actuarial staff.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience working in relevant roles.
• Advanced experience working with actuarial projection software like MG-ALFA or equivalent.
• Experience working with Python, R, SAS, or similar.
• Strong understanding of actuarial modeling.
• Familiarity with U.S. Life/Annuity product designs and features.
• Ability to analyze complex data, interpret trends, and develop actuarial models and assumptions.
• Deep understanding of Financial Modeling within Alpha database.
