Description
We are seeking a Brake Applications Engineer to provide technical depth to develop, document, and implement new technologies for brake systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with a global cross-functional team to develop and release new requirements for current and future brake technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely delivery of Application Readiness (AR) for brake technologies to support program delivery and product cycle plan.
- Lead supplier advanced technology meetings to guide the supply base on their new technology roadmap for future Ford products.
- Be the critical 'go-to' technical resource for problem-solving in quality investigations, Field Service Investigations, launch issue resolution, and new product development.
- Develop brake technical standards, design rules, requirements, test methods, engineering specifications, and corporate memory related to brake systems.
- Coach, mentor, and train members of the Global Brake Department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of design and release (D&R) or development brake experience.
- Self-starter who can learn to use new tools and find solutions.
- Motivation to bring new technologies from concept to production in a short time.
- Outstanding leadership and written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Failure Mode Avoidance (FMA) and related quality assurance processes.
- Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
- Awareness of, or experience with ISO 26262, Road vehicles – Functional safety.
