Staff+ Software Engineer, Platform Acceleration

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society.

The Platform Acceleration team builds internal tools for Anthropic's product engineers, who own the Claude API, SDKs, and the Claude Platform. We're a small product team whose customers are other Anthropic engineers.

As a Staff+ Software Engineer, you will:

• Own the technical strategy and roadmap for your area, ensuring its hardest problems get solved
• Stay hands-on, designing, building, and operating tools that help Platform teams ship code faster
• Define what it takes to trust a change, including changes written by Claude, and build the necessary tooling
• Develop agents that automate repetitive engineering tasks, such as diagnosing failures and fixing broken tests
• Collaborate with partner teams to identify friction points, validate solutions, and create products for adoption
• Measure developer experience and adoption to inform future development
• Balance building new tools with improving existing shared systems

You might be a good fit if you:

• Have experience building and operating large-scale backend services or distributed systems
• Are proficient in Go, Python, Rust, or TypeScript
• Have deep experience with developer tooling, CI/CD, test infrastructure, or deployment systems
• Have experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration
• Have led large, complex technical projects across teams
• Possess clear written and verbal communication skills
• Are interested in Anthropic's mission of building safe, beneficial AI

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience at a startup or similar small team
• Substantial experience with agents that perform engineering tasks
• Experience building widely adopted CLI tools, developer-facing services, or open-source developer tools
• Depth in progressive delivery, observability, VM orchestration, or workflow orchestration
• Experience working in a large monorepo
• Full-stack ability to create usable interfaces for tools

The annual compensation range for this role is $405,000-$485,000 USD.
