Job Summary

As a Mobile Software Engineer on the Quality Platform team at Airbnb, you will play a crucial role in delivering a seamless, high-quality experience for millions of hosts and guests. You will contribute to building AI-powered quality systems that scale across one of the world's most complex codebases.

Key Responsibilities

• Build AI-Driven Solutions: Contribute to AI-native agents that automate repetitive testing tasks and provide intelligent feedback to developers on both iOS and Android platforms.
• Deliver Scalable Infrastructure: Develop and maintain the high-scale platforms and testing environments used daily by the iOS and Android engineering organizations.
• Promote Engineering Craft: Implement best-in-class mobile patterns and modularity to improve testability and fault-tolerance across both native codebases.
• Contribute to Operational Excellence: Ensure our automated systems are performant and reliable, making data-driven decisions to optimize the CI/CD lifecycle for both platforms.

Day-to-Day Expectations

• Deliver Technical Excellence: Design and sustain foundational testing frameworks in Swift and Kotlin, emphasizing high performance and developer-centric reliability.
• Deploy Intelligent Automation: Integrate LLM-powered solutions to drive autonomous test discovery and smart orchestration across our native mobile ecosystems.
• Architect Quality by Design: Partner with cross-functional mobile teams to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure robust quality is integrated into the earliest stages of development.
• Modernize Infrastructure: Scale distributed testing systems to optimize the CI/CD lifecycle, effectively reducing build latency for both iOS and Android stacks.
• Drive R&D Initiatives: Work alongside Research and Data Science units to prototype next-generation tools that redefine software quality engineering.
• Elevate Engineering Standards: Participate in deep-dive code reviews and the Quality Guild to advocate for best-in-class mobile patterns across the organization.

Requirements

• Experience: Up to 4+ years of professional mobile development experience in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment.
• Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of both Kotlin/Android SDK and Swift/iOS SDK, with experience using modern build tools (Gradle, Xcode).
• Framework Development: Demonstrated experience building or extending test automation frameworks (e.g., Espresso, Compose Test, XCUITest) and mobile infrastructure.
• Platform Mindset: A passion for building tools and SDKs that serve other engineers and improve the developer experience across platforms.
• AI Curiosity: An eagerness to learn and apply AI/LLMs to solve complex engineering and quality challenges.
• Execution & Ownership: Demonstrated ability to navigate complex codebases and take ownership of features or components from implementation to deployment.
• Communication: Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse technical and product teams.
