AI & Data Engineer

ShipMonk is seeking an AI & Data Engineer to join their team. As an AI-first builder, you will be responsible for finding opportunities to apply AI across various business teams, building solutions end-to-end, and enabling colleagues to leverage AI.

Responsibilities

• Identify AI opportunities in business teams and develop scoped projects
• Design, build, and deploy apps and automations using AI coding tools
• Construct pipelines from business systems into Snowflake and create clean, tested data layers in dbt
• Develop LLM features on that data, including RAG, agents, and assistants
• Drive AI enablement by sharing tools and templates, and helping colleagues work AI-first
• Experiment with new AI tools and integrate effective solutions

Requirements

• Experience working AI-first, with tools like Claude Code or Cursor
• Deployed apps built with AI coding tools to production, with security, monitoring, and real-user usage
• Built at least one data pipeline and data model relied on by others
• Strong Python and SQL skills
• Hands-on experience with analytical warehouses (Snowflake or similar) and orchestrators (Airflow or similar)
• Ability to explain technical trade-offs clearly to non-technical colleagues
• 3+ years of hands-on engineering experience in data, software, or AI

Nice to Have

• Experience with dbt in production
• Familiarity with Pydantic AI, Langfuse, or similar AI tooling
• Knowledge of TypeScript for simple front ends
• Experience with n8n, Zapier, or MCP integrations
