Senior Production Engineer

We are looking for skilled individuals for the Production Support Team (Payments IT department) at HSBC. The team is responsible for technical operations of Global Payments Execution, Messaging & Orchestration and Sanctions & Investigation services.

You will provide full scope of day-to-day Production Support service, including resolution of live incidents and post-resolution problem management activities. You will also provide technical expertise in finding root cause of major system problems, install new software releases, and drive engineering excellence through automation, observability, SRE, and toil reduction.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Production Support service for critical real-time payments
• Resolve live incidents and perform post-resolution problem management activities
• Provide technical expertise in finding root cause of major system problems
• Install new software releases provided by the vendor
• Drive engineering excellence through automation, observability, SRE, and toil reduction
• Work closely with various stakeholders located in different places in the world
• Perform data analysis of key problem areas to assist in root cause analysis and data reconciliations

Requirements:

• Min. 3 years' experience in SQL and PL/SQL
• Min. 3 years' experience in Linux
• Min. 3 years' experience with Kubernetes
• Experience with shell scripting (at least one: Bash, Python, Java) for automation purposes
• Strong understanding of technology layers in application landscape, storage, OS, network, database, application
• Strong experience in monitoring tools like AppDynamics, Splunk, Dynatrace, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry (OTel)
• Experience in Payments or other transactional systems

Nice to have:

• Experience in Agile/DevOps environment and in assisting in production support
