Occupational Safety Specialist

Ford of Canada seeks an Occupational Safety Specialist to support plant-wide safety processes, emergency response planning, and compliance with regulations. The successful candidate will conduct daily operations including investigations, inspections, and root cause analyses to improve safety programs and mitigate workplace hazards.

Responsibilities

• Provide advisory services on technical and non-technical safety topics to foster a zero-incident health, safety, and environment (HSE) culture.
• Coordinate with senior stakeholders to implement plant-wide safety processes, including the company's Safety Operating System (SOS), emergency response planning, and compliance with statutory authorities.
• Conduct daily operations, including investigations, inspections, and root cause analyses, and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
• Implement incident investigations, statistical analysis, and departmental safety inquiries.
• Collaborate with teams to identify and mitigate risks associated with the workplace.
• Analyze new and existing jobs, processes, products, and systems to recommend engineering safety controls.
• Develop and improve department safety and equipment specifications.
• Deliver department-specific ergonomics training, general and fire safety trainings, and other training as required.
• Stay updated on relevant occupational safety, health regulations, standards, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Safety/Health Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of work experience in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field.
• Master's degree in a related field of study, automotive/manufacturing experience, work experience in a unionized environment, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist are assets.

The expected annual salary range for this Ford of Canada position is $85,000.00 - $135,000.00, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our Annual Compensation bonus program.
