Description

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Consultant Specialist.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Work with the Lead Site Reliability Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy and support AIOps journeys and Service Management solutions.
  • Develop and implement practical use cases that improve incident detection, impact assessment, technical diagnosis, evidence correlation, recovery guidance, problem management and operational follow-through.
  • Develop secure integrations across Service Management platforms, observability data sources, Grafana and capabilities provided by Digital and other approved enterprise platforms.
  • Build Grafana dashboards, visualisations and service-health views that integrate metrics, logs, traces, events, alerts and service context to help practitioners and engineers understand application, platform and business-service performance.
  • Develop automation and workflow capabilities that reduce repetitive manual activities, improve evidence gathering and support faster incident and problem investigation.
  • Contribute to controlled AI-assisted and agentic operational solutions, including data preparation, prompt and workflow design, tool integration, evaluation, guardrails and user feedback.
  • Implement secure APIs and service integrations with appropriate authentication, authorisation, input validation, error handling, audit logging and operational monitoring.
  • Design and develop software capable of meeting expected performance, availability, security, resilience and supportability requirements.
  • Automate build, testing, packaging and deployment through CI/CD pipelines to reduce environmental variation and promote predictable, high-quality delivery.
  • Automate unit, integration and functional tests, participate in code reviews, and maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks and support information.
  • Ensure solutions comply with relevant HSBC engineering, cyber security, data, cloud, Service Management and change standards, and maintain appropriate data quality in Service Management systems of record.
  • Work with geographically distributed and cross-functional teams across Guangzhou, India and Hong Kong, and with other CTOi Asia & Middle East and global technology communities.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, constructive challenge and reliable delivery.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in production critical or enterprise technology environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent.
  • Strong programming capability in at least one of Python or Java; experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL or enterprise scripting languages would be advantageous.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, service integrations, data processing components and workflow automation.
  • Practical experience with software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, error handling, logging, testing, version control and code quality.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring technologies, including Grafana and preferably metrics, logs, traces, alerting or OpenTelemetry concepts.
  • Practical experience with AIOps and related technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, large language models (LLMs) or AI-assisted operational tooling.
  • Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural, diverse and inclusive organisation.
