Description
By joining Sedgwick, you'll be part of something truly meaningful. It's what our 33,000 colleagues do every day for people around the world who are facing the unexpected.
As a Principal AI Engineer, you will own the technical outcome of a value-stream pod from problem shaping through production operation. You will partner directly with business transformation leadership, examiners, nurse reviewers, and operations to shape ambiguous problems and refuse work that would wire new capability onto a process known to be broken.
Key responsibilities:
- Architect and build production Generative AI agents, workflows, and applications using Python and React
- Set and enforce engineering standards for the pod, including API-first and contract-first delivery, AWS and Terraform as the path to production, and GitHub Actions as the CI/CD bar
- Lead technical solution design and architectural review for the stream, and escalate conflicts with enterprise standards
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Senior and Junior AI Engineers
- Lead complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization for business-critical AI services and platforms
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years owning production Generative AI or applied-AI systems
- Hands-on production experience on AWS, Python, React, GitHub Actions, and Terraform
- Expert full-stack engineering skills in Python and React, with strong SQL, APIs, and service design
- Deep, hands-on AWS, Terraform, and GitHub Actions experience
- Production command of Generative AI agents, workflows, and applications
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in insurance, claims, healthcare, or another heavily regulated operational domain
- Experience with machine learning, model fine-tuning, and/or graph databases
- Experience with PydanticAI (or equivalent agent framework), agent observability, and AI Ops / LLMOps
