Engineering Manager, Machine Learning (Safety)

Discord's Safety ML team builds machine learning systems to protect over 200 million users. We're seeking a technical, hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the team.

As the manager, you will own detection systems that safeguard users from harm. Responsibilities include:

• Building and leading a team of ML engineers
• Driving the technical vision and roadmap for Safety ML
• Managing the end-to-end lifecycle of production safety models
• Collaborating with Trust & Safety, Product, Policy, Legal, and Data Science teams
• Partnering with other Engineering Managers to improve the Engineering organization

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, or Applied Scientist
• 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, managing a team of 5+ engineers
• Hands-on expertise in areas such as abuse/fraud detection, content classification, or behavioral modeling
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience shipping ML systems to production at scale
• Passion for coaching and leading engineers

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000 to $306,000 + equity + benefits.
