Cook (Temporary Assignment)

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our Food and Nutrition Services team on a temporary assignment basis. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, distributing, and packaging food items at our central kitchen for distribution to school sites.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in food service and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to maintain a clean and safe working environment, operate various kitchen equipment, and assist with food preparation and serving.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare, cook, and package food items according to specifications
• Maintain production and serving areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition
• Operate various kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, and ovens
• Record and maintain accurate records of food production and inventory
• Assist with food preparation and serving for special events
• Attend meetings and participate in professional development training

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year of food service experience
• Valid California Food Handlers Permit
• Ability to understand and communicate in English
• Basic math and accounting skills
• Intermediate interpersonal relations skills

Working Conditions:

• Work in a food service environment with exposure to heat, noise, and cleaning chemicals
• Ability to lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods and walk long distances
