Metallurgy Lab Technician - 3rd Shift

We are seeking a Metallurgy Lab Technician to join our team on 3rd shift in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests and analyses on production welds.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare samples for Cut & Etch: Plasma Cutting, Wet Saw, Polishing & Etching (Acid)
• Perform Destructive Cut & Etch testing on production MIG welds, capturing images and measuring weld features using computerized software
• Perform Rockwell hardness testing as required
• Perform destructive & non-destructive testing on Resistance Spot welds and Resistance Projection nuts/studs
• Manage Discrepant Weld Reports, including emailing and generating/data entry/saving reports in Excel
• Document, file, and maintain in-process inspection reports
• Assist others as assigned
• Conduct oneself in a professional and technical manner that positively impacts the Quality Department and Multimatic as a whole

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• 2 years of general or specific experience in this field desired
• Basic computer skills (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook)
• Welding & Plasma Cutting skills desired
