Client Software Engineer - EA Sports™ FC

Electronic Arts creates entertainment, inspiring players and fans worldwide. As a Client Software Engineer on the EA SPORTS FC team, you will report directly to a Development Director and collaborate closely with producers, designers, artists, and fellow engineers.

Your responsibilities include:

• End-to-End Feature Development: Collaborate closely with client and server engineers to architect, integrate, and test end-to-end features across platforms.
• Service & API Design: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable REST-based APIs and online backend integrations.
• UI Engineering: Partner with UI/UX designers and technical artists to build responsive, intuitive interface experiences using the game’s UI tech stack.
• High-Quality Code: Write clean, reliable, and testable code, participating actively in code reviews, debugging, and continuous maintenance.
• Technical Design: Draft clear technical design documents, architectural diagrams, and specifications for upcoming game systems and features.
• Continuous Improvement: Proactively champion software engineering best practices, helping to optimize workflows, tooling, and team processes.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner effectively with both technical and non-technical teammates across local and distributed studio teams.

Your qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or a related technical discipline), or equivalent practical industry experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of applying modern development best practices.
• Solid command of modern C++, including strong architectural awareness, memory management, and performance optimization.
• Firm grasp of object-oriented design patterns, networking fundamentals, and RESTful service integrations.
• Familiarity with data exchange formats (JSON, XML), version control workflows (e.g., Perforce/Git), and IDEs like Visual Studio.
• Comfort navigating, refactoring, and mitigating risk within large-scale existing codebases.
