At Anchorage Digital, we are building the world's most advanced digital asset platform for institutions to participate in crypto. Anchorage Digital is a crypto platform that enables institutions to participate in digital assets through custody, staking, trading, governance, settlement, and the industry's leading security infrastructure.
The Protocols team is the back-end team at Anchorage Digital that works closest to the blockchain. We are responsible for developing cutting-edge digital assets on top of the latest blockchain technologies and working closely with product and design teams to build out DeFi, governance, and participation mechanisms with blockchains.
Responsibilities
- Deeply research new cryptoassets and integrate them into Anchorage Digital's platform.
- Implement participatory features that clients need, such as staking, governance, vesting, etc.
- Develop infrastructure that scales across all crypto-networks.
- Support assets through upgrades and monitor for network-wide issues.
- Contribute with and review code across the entire stack and engineering organization.
- Find the right balance between progress and perfection.
- Foster an efficient deterministic testing culture, with an emphasis on minimizing tech debt and bureaucracy.
- Influence architecture/product roadmap.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with everyone.
- Help scale the team.
- Work on the front lines of the blockchain/crypto movement and SecOps innovation.
- Ship code that will impact the global economy.
Requirements
- You have real-world experience building complex distributed systems.
- You enjoy building services from scratch and supporting them over a meaningful period of time.
- You genuinely care about code quality and test infrastructure.
- You prioritize end-user experience and business value over 'cool tech.'
- You have developed 'computer science fundamentals', i.e., concurrency, algorithms, and data structures.
- You self-describe as some combination of creative, humble, ambitious, detail-oriented, hardworking, trustworthy, eager to learn, methodical, action-oriented, and tenacious.
Nice to Have
- Experience with applied cryptography.
- Comfortable diving down the stack and into open-source projects to root cause a bug.
- Knowledge of blockchain protocol white papers and staying up-to-date with cryptoasset innovations.
- Background in the finance industry.

- Backend Tech: Go, C++, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Vault, GCP, AWS, and GraphQL.
- Engineering methodologies: Reverse uptime, cryptographically linked data models, tamper-resistant ledgers, air-gapped infrastructure, secure execution environments, repeatable builds, and infra-as-code.
