Materials Engineering Welding Specialist

We are seeking a talented Materials Engineering Welding Specialist to join our team at our Columbus, IN location.

In this role, you will make an impact by leading component failure analyses to identify root causes, recommending corrective actions, and preventing recurrence to protect customers and product integrity. You will also optimize materials and processes, advance material characterization, and elevate technical knowledge sharing.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading component failure analyses and recommending corrective actions
• Selecting and validating materials and manufacturing routes that meet form, function, and performance requirements
• Interpreting mechanical, chemical, and microstructural data to confirm compliance and correlate field results
• Producing clear, high-quality technical documentation to accelerate learning and improve productivity
• Developing strong internal and external relationships to enhance collaboration and problem-solving
• Applying structured methodologies to trace issues, identify systemic root causes, and implement durable solutions

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant STEM field
• Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area
• Demonstrated track record of technical problem-solving and quality decision-making
• Knowledge of MS Office tools
• Experience with welding engineering standards, design guidance, and subject matter expertise
• Ability to coordinate and unify welding expertise across business units
• Strong practical experience in metal inert gas welding, tungsten inert gas welding, laser welding, and resistance joining processes
• Familiarity with American Welding Society, International Organization for Standardization welding standards, and American Society for Testing and Materials material standards
