As a Product Development Engineer – Core Handles Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, validation, release, and implementation of handle mechanisms into vehicle closures. Your tasks will also involve driving design improvements to increase quality and optimize cost/weight throughout development and production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and leading suppliers to meet program targets for cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing
  • Understanding and utilizing the Global Product Development System (GPDS) to deliver projects on time
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure robust system delivery at the vehicle level
  • Creating and presenting technical presentations for peer and management reviews
  • Performing and reviewing technical analyses, such as dimensional stackups, CAE’s, dynamic calculations, and simulations
  • Participating in Technical Design Reviews and releasing parts in FEDEBOM and WERS
  • Compiling, documenting, and presenting evidence of compliance to design rules and requirements
  • Leading design reviews based on Failure Mode Avoidance and developing core documents, including Engineering specifications and DVP&Rs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in design, development, or launch of automotive mechanisms
  • Strong knowledge of plastics, molding processes, and related CAE’s
  • CAD capability (such as CATIA, 3DX, Teamcenter) and familiarity with CAE tools and software
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple issues effectively and efficiently
