WSP has a career opportunity for a Mid-Level Construction Materials Technician to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.
As a Mid-Level Construction Materials Technician, you will work as a valued member of our team and conduct tests and investigations in the field or laboratory to obtain data used by engineering and technical personnel in determining physical properties of construction materials.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting tests and investigations in the field or laboratory
- Demonstrating integrity in all testing and reporting activities ensuring accuracy, transparency and accountability in results
- Performing field and laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards
- Collecting soil, asphalt and concrete samples, preparing samples for testing, recording data, and preparing summary reports
- Using specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports and technical drawings
- Operating computer systems and peripheral equipment
- Maintaining results logs
- Entering data and using spreadsheet computer programs
- Confering with Engineers and Scientific staff on test and design efforts
- Setting up, maintaining and calibrating equipment
This role requires:
- 5 years + Construction Materials Testing experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to use laboratory test equipment in an effective and safe manner
- Ability to understand procedure manuals and execute work orders
- Ability to prepare reports and documentation
- Ability to follow directions and have attention to detail
- Ability to lift and carry soil, asphalt and concrete samples and use a wheelbarrow
- Ability to work independently
- Eligibility for coverage under WSP’s fleet policy, which requires drivers to be at least 21 years old
- Passing a background check and having a satisfactory driving record
Preferred qualifications include:
- Maintaining required ACI and ATTI certifications
- ACI Certification
- ATTI Certification
- Soil or asphalt nuclear density testing experience
- Knowledge and understanding of materials testing and a project focus
- Understanding of applicable ASTM, AASHTO and ADOT Standards
