Senior Mission Software Engineer

Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology.

As a Senior Mission Software Engineer, you will work on debugging and fixing issues with autonomous underwater/surface vehicles, specifically with the Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Take a field-reported anomaly and figure out what subsystem it's actually in
• Reproduce the issue for real
• Use metrics and log infrastructure to reconstruct system state at the moment things went wrong
• Confirm the fix in a simulated environment first
• Write the fix in the relevant language (Rust, C++, Python, Go)
• Write down root cause and fix for every issue you close

Requirements:

• Real experience debugging code under time pressure with incomplete information
• Comfort in at least two of Rust, modern C++, Python, Go
• Systems-debugging instincts
• Exposure to observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana-class metrics, Loki/ELK-class logs)
• Linux and systems fluency
• Ability to write up what actually happened clearly
• Willingness to work close to hardware and sensors
• Willingness to travel 25%+ of the time on average

Nice to have:

• Robotics middleware, sensor drivers, or real-time data pipeline experience
• Time in simulation-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop test setups
• CI/CD and versioned deployment experience for embedded or fleet software
• Actual on-call or field-support experience for hardware that ships to real users
