Description

The Market Surveillance & Monitoring Department at HKEX maintains the integrity of cash and derivatives markets through real-time trade monitoring and enforcing rule compliance of HKEX Participants. You will work proactively and collaboratively with internal stakeholders to promote effective market regulations for a fair, orderly, and reputable market.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in market surveillance-related projects and system enhancements
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and implementation of surveillance systems
  • Handle daily trade surveillance alerts and reports generated in the surveillance system
  • Carry out investigations resulting from surveillance alerts and/or deal with referrals of suspicious behavior
  • Undertake any other responsibilities and projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • University degree in Computer Sciences, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related disciplines
  • Good knowledge of securities and derivatives markets; previous exposure to various financial instrument types is an advantage
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Solid analytical skills to handle large datasets with strong attention to detail
  • Good collaboration skills, especially with IT or front office departments
  • Previous experience in Front Office, Risk Management, Front Office IT, or Middle Office with experience in project and system testing is advantageous
  • Experience in using surveillance strategies or various surveillance exception reporting platforms is an advantage
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience in well-established financial organizations
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible to take on new responsibilities or challenges
  • Hands-on experience with industry-wide systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters) and Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); knowledge of programming is an advantage
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
