Description
We are seeking an Android Software Engineer to join the User Experience team at Lyft Urban Solutions. As an engineer on this team, you will contribute directly to the digital experience of our bike and scooter platforms. You will develop backend systems that ensure a seamless and rapid experience for subscription programs, user features, and real-time interactions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, deploy, monitor, operate, and maintain elements of the user experience, taking ownership of the entire process.
- Write reliable, efficient, and maintainable code with comprehensive test coverage.
- Reduce technical debt and contribute to continuous improvement of tools and code structure.
- Analyze internal systems and processes to identify opportunities for improvement and automation.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and share knowledge within the team.
- Develop technical specifications, operational manuals, and documentation related to requirements, security, and confidentiality.
- Share knowledge and support team growth through onboarding materials, informal training, technical presentations, and sharing best engineering practices.
Operations and Quality:
- Ensure on-call rotation, monitor deployed code stability and performance, proactively fix bugs, and maintain up-to-date dashboards and alerts.
- Manage and escalate production incidents as needed, contributing to improved on-call practices and long-term reliability.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with product, data science, analytics, and operations teams to advance quickly without compromising quality.
- Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to engineers and non-engineers.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with product, design, TPM, QA, and other cross-functional teams as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 1-3 years of minimum software engineering experience.
- Experience with Kotlin.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose, declarative user interface development, and shared component creation.

Salary Range:
- CAD $72,000 - CAD $90,000 per year
