Description
As a Staff Software Engineer on the UI Tooling team at Airbnb, you will lead the development of the Kyber platform, a prototyping and rapid deployment tool used by thousands of internal projects and users.
The UI Tooling team is part of the UI Foundation, which oversees the design system, accessibility, motion, and tooling that connects Airbnb's design and product development processes.
In this role, you will focus on three key areas:
- Rebuilding Kyber on Airbnb's next-generation cloud platforms
- Evolving Kyber's capabilities to support the product development process
- Integrating Kyber into Airbnb's ecosystem to support prototyping workflows
Your typical day will involve setting technical direction for the Kyber platform, writing and reviewing code, partnering with cross-functional teams, and mentoring engineers.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- 9+ years of industry experience in fast-paced environments, with a track record of delivering large-scale service-oriented systems
- Broad full-stack engineering capabilities, with experience working across backend, frontend, mobile, APIs, and system architecture
- Proven experience building customer-facing products from scratch and contributing to product definition, technical architecture, development, and launch
- Strong architectural design skills, including high-scale distributed services, well-designed APIs, data pipelines, efficient algorithms, and reliable integrations
- Sound technical judgment, with the ability to balance speed of delivery, experimentation, scalability, and long-term engineering quality
This is a remote-eligible position, but you must live in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity.
The base pay range for this role is $212,000-$265,000 USD per year.
