Description
Boeing Defense, Space & Security's Experimental Systems Group (ESG) is seeking Guidance Navigation & Control Engineers to join our team in Seal Beach or El Segundo, CA or Denver, Colorado.
The role involves designing GN&C algorithms, building high-fidelity simulations, implementing and testing flight software, and supporting integration and flight testing in space environments. The ideal candidate will have experience with astrodynamics and flight mechanics, as well as leadership skills to lead engineering project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Designs, implements, and verifies guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for spacecraft
- Develops and maintains 6-DOF dynamics simulations and associated analysis tools for mission and performance assessment
- Implements and validates GN&C flight software (MATLAB/Simulink models and C/C++ prototypes) and integrates with testbeds and avionics
- Applies astrodynamics and flight mechanics to mission design, novel orbit concepts, and trajectory optimization
- Develops powered and unpowered guidance laws and autonomy tools for on-orbit operations
- Supports troubleshooting of operational anomalies, functional tests, and service incidents
- Produces concepts of operations, simulation artifacts, and test procedures to enable rapid iteration from prototype to flight test
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams and communicates technical tradeoffs to stakeholders
- Independently identifies inefficiencies, proposes solutions, and implements reusable tools and automations
- Leads engineering project teams, mentors engineers, and advances job practices and techniques as they relate to GN&C
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
