Venture Debt Associate

We are seeking a Venture Debt Associate to join our HSBC Innovation Banking team in San Francisco. As a critical member of a lean team, you will focus on due diligence, deal structuring, and portfolio management, as well as presenting with internal partners regarding the Innovation Banking division's debt portfolio.

Responsibilities:

• Meet with clients and prospects to build and maintain relationships
• Structure venture debt facilities that encourage balanced growth and protect against downside risk
• Perform key underwriting functions, including KPI analysis, driven/market analysis, and financial modeling
• Ensure accurate internal documentation of debt facilities, financial reporting, and internal risk ratings
• Build and maintain a portfolio management framework to review financial performance
• Review information and communicate on clients' performance internally
• Develop a firm understanding of HSBC's banking products and markets

Requirements:

• Ability to analyze business models, financial statements, and KPIs
• Experience in debt underwriting, preferably in the healthcare and life sciences industries
• Ability to assess and handle credit risks, including covenant compliance and rating changes
• Familiarity with technology trends and the startup and Venture Capital ecosystem
• Willingness to collaborate with clients and internal partners
• Proficiency in Excel and databases such as Pitchbook or Crunchbase
