Staff Security Engineer

The Threat Detection and Response team at Twilio is looking for a Staff Security Engineer to work on creating bespoke and standard security tooling, enhancing threat mitigation and incident response capabilities, and automating processes.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in daily operations tasks, including on-call rotation, architecting and developing detective tooling and automation, and incident response activities
• Align the Detection and Response vision and strategy with the team, and develop and ship specific roadmaps, programs, and projects
• Work cross-collaboratively to understand and help solve challenges related to threat actors and activity
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in the business, including the Incident Response program
• Perform technology research, security research, and architecture reviews to understand the Twilio platform
• Build systems and services to simplify complex security problems
• Empower others by building positive relationships with internal customers
• Provide mentorship, support, and care for the team to enable long-term career development

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of security engineering experience in a production-cloud environment
• Proven experience with AI agents and agentic workflows
• Experience detecting and responding to next-generation AI threats
• Advanced knowledge of service-oriented architectures and security tools
• Experience with SIEM platforms, SOAR tools, and infrastructure as code
• Experience in a large cloud platform (AWS, GCP, etc.)

Location:

• Remote - US (not eligible for CA, CT, NJ, NY, PA, WA)

Compensation:

• Estimated pay ranges: $155,520 - $194,400 (Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont, Washington D.C.)
• $164,640 - $205,800 (New York, New Jersey, Washington State, California outside of San Francisco Bay area)
• $182,960 - $228,700 (San Francisco Bay area, California)
