Description
As a Senior/Principal Bridge Engineer at WSP, you will lead and review bridge design, strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments. You will also provide general civil and structural engineering support to other teams, conduct feasibility studies and options appraisals, and prepare/review specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessments.
The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification and membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers, practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment, and understanding and experience of Eurocodes and/or sector-specific codes and standards.

Responsibilities include:
- Leading and reviewing bridge design
- Leading and reviewing bridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessments
- Providing general civil and structural engineering support to other teams
- Conducting feasibility studies and options appraisals
- Preparing/reviewing specifications, reports and health and safety risk assessments
- Preparing/reviewing CDM Documentation
- Reviewing design drawings and preparing fee estimates
- Supervising junior members of the team
Requirements:
- Professional qualification and membership with the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers
- Practical knowledge and experience of bridge design, maintenance and assessment
- Understanding and experience of Eurocodes and/or sector-specific codes and standards
- Experience of finite element analysis software and parametric design techniques
- Commercial awareness and experience of managing costs
- Good report-writing skills
- Experience of leading teams
- Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills
