Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming, and we are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to hang out before, during, and after playing games. The Developer Success team is building the tools for game developers to make that happen by harnessing the power of Discord in their games and in their communities.
You will be delivering high-quality, high-impact projects that unlock new capabilities for game developers. This could include anything from our APIs, the Discord app, developer portal, realtime infrastructure, or even our C++ SDKs. You will collaborate with the other engineers on your team to write, review, and ship elegant and scalable code. You take pride in the fact that your code will be used by millions and millions of people!
Your responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality, high-impact projects that unlock new capabilities for game developers.
- Collaborating with the other engineers on your team to write, review, and ship elegant and scalable code.
- Leading projects through the whole life cycle: from gathering requirements, breaking down milestones into smaller pieces, building, then shipping the thing.
- Listening and working with our game developer partners to better understand their needs in order to improve our tools.
- Working with product managers, designers, and partner managers to cut through ambiguity and find the way forward.
- Maintaining performance and reliability standards for our features.
- Using your attention to detail to continually raise the quality bar of the software we write.
Requirements:
- 5+ years professional experience as a software engineer.
- Experience with some parts of our tech stack, mainly Python and Typescript/React, but could include Elixir, Rust, or C++.
- Experience building software that leverages large data based applications.
- A sense for product and design.
- A holistic approach to problem solving.
- Actively leveraging AI coding tools to accelerate your productivity.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with scale.
- Experience with mobile development.
- Direct experience leveraging a cloud platform (e.g. GCP, Amazon, or Azure) to serve as the backend infrastructure for a product.
- Experience with game development.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500 + equity + benefits.
