This leadership role manages a team of attorneys supporting pharmacy network operations for The Cigna Group's Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) business. The successful candidate will have significant PBM legal experience, people leadership experience, and knowledge of federal and state laws governing pharmacy benefit management.
The role involves:
- Leading and developing a team of attorneys
- Serving as lead legal advisor for pharmacy network operations strategy and initiatives
- Providing day-to-day legal counsel on pharmacy network operations, contracting, and regulatory compliance
- Advising on state and federal laws and regulations impacting PBMs and the healthcare supply chain
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex healthcare agreements
- Partnering with business leaders on strategic initiatives and enterprise projects
- Collaborating with internal legal teams and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership
- Mentoring and developing attorneys while promoting a high-performing team culture
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- An active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Minimum 10+ years of legal experience with substantial healthcare regulatory and transactional experience
- Minimum 6+ years of direct PBM legal experience
- Minimum 3+ years of people leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience advising PBM business leaders and drafting complex healthcare agreements
- Strong knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The salary range for this position is $197,000 - $328,300 per year, depending on experience and geographic location. The role is eligible for an annual bonus and long-term incentive plan.
