Description
NVIDIA's MSS-Interconnect frontend team is looking for an intern to explore AI applications in RTL, verification, debug, and design-review workflows.
During this internship, you will develop a focused AI-for-hardware use case from concept to working prototype, assess current AI tools and agents on real engineering problems, and help the team identify valuable capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Create prototypes of AI-assisted workflows for specific hardware frontend issues, such as RTL, verification, debug, code understanding, or design review, and refine them with user engineers.
- Evaluate new AI tools, models, and agent capabilities for real engineering tasks and help determine which ones are worth adopting.
- Develop small, reusable tools or automation to streamline workflows.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to transform a significant pain point into a practical AI use case and improve it based on feedback.
- Share findings on successful and unsuccessful approaches to inform future team experiments and investments.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Solid Python and software engineering skills, with experience in building automation, scripts, or tools.
- Familiarity with hardware frontend workflows, such as RTL design, verification, debug, or design methodology, through academic projects, research, or prior internships.
- Basic hardware knowledge to evaluate the usefulness and technical soundness of AI-assisted solutions.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based tools, agents, or AI-assisted workflows.
- Familiarity with modern AI tools and good judgment on which new tools are worth exploring.
- Experience with frontend hardware development or debug-intensive workflows.
- Knowledge of Interconnect, NoC, Memory System, bus-fabric, or related silicon domains.
