Description
Samsara is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join its Developer Experience team. The team builds tooling and infrastructure used by Samsara's engineers daily. The successful candidate will help set technical direction for the team, working on CI/CD pipelines, AI coding agents, and scaling tooling.
Responsibilities:
- Help shape the technical direction of the developer platform
- Design and build AI agents to automate tasks for engineers
- Scale tooling to keep up with the growing engineering organization
- Standardize tools and practices across teams
- Raise the technical bar through code reviews and mentorship
- Partner with engineering leadership on strategic decisions
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years in an architect or technical leadership role
- Strong programming and design fundamentals
- 4+ years of experience with large-scale distributed systems
- 4+ years of experience leading technical projects across multiple teams
Nice to have:
- Experience building developer platforms or internal tooling
- Experience with AI coding tools
- Strong skills in Go, Python, TypeScript, or similar languages
- Track record of improving engineer productivity
Compensation:
- Annual base salary: $162,400 - $290,000 USD
- Eligible for RSU grant and ongoing refresh opportunities
