Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Insurance Operations)

Grab is Southeast Asia's leading superapp, providing various services including food delivery, financial management, and ride-hailing.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, Insurance Operations, based in Malaysia and develop backend systems powering accounting, reporting, and third-party integrations for insurance products.

The critical tasks you will perform:

• Develop high-quality and scalable backend applications for accounting, reporting, and integration services
• Build and maintain third-party integrations (ISM, APAD, JPJ) for regulatory compliance
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code to solve challenging problems
• Collaborate with diverse teams to design and ship new features
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
• Troubleshoot, debug complex issues, and provide quick resolutions
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical direction
• Participate in On-Call rotations to ensure service reliability

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of relevant experience in software development
• Proficiency in Java (preferred) and/or Golang
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Git
• Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
• Experience with clean architecture principles and SOLID principles
• Experience with financial/regulatory systems is a plus
