Join WSP's growing team in Townsville as an Experienced Civil Designer. In this role, you will lead the planning, investigation, and concept development of major capital projects, transforming early ideas into practical, buildable solutions. You will also prepare detailed designs for roads, drainage, and a broad range of civil infrastructure, delivering high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets.
Main activities and responsibilities:
- Comply with all role-specific SHEQ obligations
- Promote continual improvement of best practice OHS&E and Quality systems and behaviours
- Coach others in the identification and management of ethical issues
- Actively work towards chartered status
- Proactively build effective networks and industry relationships
- Participate in company development initiatives
- Seek information to understand client needs and effectively anticipate and meet client needs
- Manage and monitor the technical quality of work performed by the project design team
- Develop and review engineering drawings and reports
- Incorporate Road Safety and Design Philosophy principles into designs
- Monitor task-based scope, time, and cost management systems
- Provide technical input on multiple projects
- Mentor junior designers
- Work collaboratively with team members
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- Typically 10-15 years' experience in a consultancy environment
- Extensive knowledge of relevant industry-related Australian Standards and local Road Authority Standards
- High-level use and understanding of 2D and 3D CADD software and 3D modelling
- Highly skilled in applying safety in design practices and processes
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
