6th-8th Grade Social Studies Teacher

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly qualified 6th-8th Grade Social Studies Teacher at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan. The teacher will provide a superior education for all students, creating a positive classroom environment that prioritises student learning and social-emotional development.

Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and delivering lesson plans, modifying them as needed during the school year
• Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students
• Maintaining accurate records of students' progress and development
• Utilising research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction
• Managing student behaviour in the classroom
• Creating a positive classroom environment for students to learn in
• Implementing school-wide culture expectations and norms
• Communicating with families regarding academic and social-emotional growth
• Incorporating technology skills into daily classroom practice
• Participating in non-instructional activities as needed
• Collaborating with colleagues

Requirements:

• Active Michigan teaching license in the relevant content area
• Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
• High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage confidential information and supervise students in various settings
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working in an urban environment
